Henry Best was a highly industrious merchant and butcher who serviced Ararat miners during the Victorian gold rush. Halls Gap Vineyard was planted 1969, along the steep eastern slopes and parched rocky crags of Grampians Ranges, at the very beginning of a renaissance in Victorian viticulture.
