Semillon Hunter Valley New South Wales
Semillon has always been the great white varietal of Hunter Valley, as the soils and climate of the region produce a style of wine which is unique to the world. Tyrrell's believe that Hunter Semillon should always be made without oak, to permit the citrus fruit flavours to stand out and allow the wine to develop complexity. An attractive, early drinking style with a clean refreshing palate.
Semillon performs well across a range of cool to warm climates, widely grown and vinified throughout the world. But it is only in the Hunter Valley that the fruit has established a distinctive, internationally appreciated style of table wine. The Hunter Valley is renowned for showing the Semillon grape to its full advantage by making voluptuous, nutty, honeyed wines, and Tyrrell have been at the fore of this regional specialty for generations. Hunter Semillon is unique to the world due to its style and cellaring qualities. Grapes are picked early in the vintage, pressed and the juices transferred to fermenters for a cool vinification to retain the freshness of flavour.
