Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Hunter Valley New South Wales
Tyrrell's Old Winery range is named after the historic wineworks at Hunter Valley, built in 1858. Rose as a wine style has had many incarnations over the last century, from light, dry and savoury to rich, fruity and sweet. Old Winery is vinified to an old Rose technique that Tyrrell's employed in the 1960s, incorporating traditional skin contact methods from parcels of Hunter Valley fruit. The flavours develop early in the process at lower sugar and stronger acid levels. The aim is to achieve a balanced pink wine, fashioned for the everyday Australian lifestyle.
Tyrrell's is a story about pioneers, men and women who transformed the Hunter Valley, planted grapes and looked for better ways to make wine. Old Winery Rose is a visually appealing expression of the ongoing Tyrrell tradition of consistently producing wines that over deliver in terms of quality and value. A balance of Grenache and Shiraz provide the vibrant pink colour and juicy expression of red berries. Grapes are picked at lower sugar levels to higher amounts of cherry acid and raspberry flavours. The varietal components are assembled into a luscious wine that offers all the crisp fruit character of Grenache, perfectly integrated with the plummy spice of Shiraz.
Cherry red in colour. The bouquet exhibits fragrant strawberry and musk aromas, followed by citrus/ apple characters, plum, berry and spice. The palate is soft and fully integrated, with an explosion of ripe red favours. Made to a fruit driven style that's vibrant in its youth. Serve slightly chilled with seafood, poultry and pork, or as a smart apertif.
