Dry grown vines must bury their roots deep into the reddish clay and limestone soils, translating into generously proportioned wines of great aromatic richness and minerality. The wines of Terre di Sava are an articulation of the land and clime, the long history of the Puglia region and expression of folk who have been growing and making wine for countless generations. Established by a group of enthusiasts who shared a vision to preserve a unique winemaking culture, it is the passion of local villagers to grow the quality of fruit which speaks of their history and land. Zinfandel grapes are hand picked off closely managed old vines and treated to a mix of traditional old world fermentations and up to date vinification techniques, without any exposure to oak barrels, capturing the distinct Zinfandel fruit characters and retaining juicy freshness.
Intense ruby red color with violet hues. Intense, fruity nose exhibiting notes of plum and cherries, mixed spice, hints of rosemary and vanilla. Full bodied, soft and harmonious palate, fruity, prune and black cherry spice, earthiness and rich tar notes kept fresh by balanced acidity over a length gentle tannins before a lengthy finish. Immediately approachable on release, the Zinfandel of choice to accompany red meat and tomato pasta, braised game or hard cheese.
