Seppeltsfield Wines are the cautious custodians of a priceless collection of fortified wines spanning more than 150 years of excellence. Seppeltsfield Tokay is made from Muscadelle grapes, harvested at peak ripeness and fortified to give a delicate spirit lift. A blend of fortified and cellared wines from a number of vintages. Muscadelle grapes from precious old Rutherglen vineyards are treated to a fortification of brandy spirits during fermentation, which arrests the process and retains the vital fruit sugars and characteristic rancio characters of rich wines. Extended maturation in very old, small oak casks at Seppeltsfield. Alcohol 16.5% “The most historic winery and greatest showpiece in the Barossa!” -James Halliday.
Dark amber. Lifted and vibrant aromatics with varietal tea leaf aromas, honeyed richness and a touch of nutty complexity, balanced by a delicate spirit lift. The palate displays fresh, sweet tea leaf and malt flavours with raisined intensity and impressive length. Flavours of raisins with lashings of creamed honey and toffee. The sweet and fruit driven expressions are balanced by natural acidity and well‐integrated spirit ensuring a clean finish. This is a luscious wine when young and fresh, yet carries sufficient character to remain and develop after opening.
