Todd Goebel and Gill Christian are vignerons in the truest sense, taking a sojourn from careers in biology and engineering, to cane prune vines and lay down organic fertilizer. The fruit of their enthusiastic efforts is a remarkably complex Pinot Noir of excellence and refinement, presenting a unique pallet of discernible pastoral characters within each sip.
Todd Goebel and Gill Christian are passionate about producing small quantities of high quality, cool climate wines. Sustainable agriculture is important and dictates their viticultural management techniques. In the vineyard, Todd and Gill hand prune and shoot thin each vine as they aim for perfection. All grapes are hand picked and hand selected off the vines to produce single site Coal Valley vintages. The aim is to deliver top quality wines from a truly world class, cool climate site. Wines that reflect the unique terroir of Coal River Valley and represent a satisfying experience with every sip. Fruit is treated to vinification in traditional open vats followed by an extended maturation in French oak barrels.
Purple colour. Complex bouquet with spice and chocolate overtones, cherry and raspberry notes linger. The palate is complex and intense, ripe dark plum and dark cherry, silky and generous, earthyness and excellent balance, elegant and long. Match with duck, pink lamb or wet, runny cheese.
