Four Sisters Sauvignon Blanc CONFIRM VINTAGE

Sauvignon Blanc Victoria
The contemporary style of Australian white wine, vibrantly fruit driven and fresh, it delivers in terms of drinkability and offers unanimous appeal to all palates. Four Sisters are a staple of the dining-out lifestyle throughout the nation. An early drinking range of wines created by the legendary Trevor Mast, one of Australia's most eminent winemakers and a peer respected national wine show judge. This popular table white has been highly acclaimed, as much for it's kinship to good food as for ease of enjoyment and approachability when served young and chilled.
Fruit is sourced from choice sites, predominantly throughout central Victoria, off vines averaging ten years, including parcels from high altitude vineyards in the Strathbogie Ranges. Soil types vary from sandy loam with some clay content through to very sandy soils on the banks of the Goulburn. Grapes are picked and crushed throughout the cool of the night to ensure retention of the varietal characteristics and preservation of fresh fruit flavours. After crushing, the must is pressed and settled at 0C to 2C. A relatively aromatic yeast strain is added for inoculation, followed by a cool fermentation over a course of two to three weeks, before bottling unwooded and unoaked after a light filtration. Alcohol 13.0%
A light golden straw colour. Displays clean and fragrant grassy aromas with lifted tropical notes. Vibrant passionfruit, gooseberry and lemon citrus flavours shine through on the palate balanced by a gentle acid that leads to a lingering finish. The wine of choice at luncheon and always welcome for dinner, Four Sisters are perfect with all faire, and as with all good sisters make the most charming company.

Four Sisters
Four Sisters is the creation of Trevor Mast of Mount Langi Ghiran, world famous for its Shiraz

What a great idea it was from winemaker Trevor to pop his gorgeous daughters Ineke, Anja, Sophie and Daliah on the label of his award-winning drop, the Four Sisters.

Four Sisters

The Grampians region has a long history of producing elegant, powerful and long lived table wines. Vines were first planted in 1860 and in December 1887 the Ararat Advertiser reported that the local wine had won honours all over the world'

In 1892, there were 92 grapegrowers in the Grampians district with some 1885 acres under vine. With the downturn in the fortunes of the wine industry earlier this century, much of this vineyard was grubbed out with some hardy survivors, such as Bests, keeping the traditions alive. A resurgence in the late 1960s and 1970s lead to the establishment of a new group of wineries, including Four Sisters. Now the Grampians region is once again recognised internationally for the absolute quality of Victorian wines.

Trevor regularly takes his seat as Judge at the National Wine Shows and is a highly regarded stalwart of Victoria's winemaking fraternity. Trevor Mast first entered the industry when he worked at Gilbeys, where he was responsible for the blending of spirits and liqueurs, and later took up a position as microbiologist for Stellenbosch Winery in South Africa.

Four Sisters

One year his four daughters created the wine label design as a birthday surprise. Produced with the help of the eldest daughter Daliah, a graphic designer, the label depicts each one of the sisters Sophie, Anja, Daliah and Ineke. Delighted with the label mock up and his daughters' plans for a wine aptly named Four Sisters, Trevor initially crafted a small production wine from the vineyard growing behind the family home.

With the positive response from all who tried the wine and heard the original story behind it, Four Sisters is now a successful brand with a range of four classic grape varieties.
