Rockbare are raiders of precious but wayward vineyards, planted to outdated standards of viticulture, sadly unviable for large scale winemaking. These are however, precisely the nature of site that Rockbare choose to retain. Winemaker Tim Burvill worked at Wynns and Penfolds, where he refined his style alongside some of the best winemakers in the nation's history. Establishing his own label, he embarked upon a secret project to acquire parcels of prodigal Barossa vine. Josef Chromy OAM escaped from war torn Czechoslovakia as a penniless 19 year old in 1950, he fled across minefields, evading soldiers and killer dogs, ultimately finding a new home in the lucky country. Situated in the valley of Forgue, nearby Huntly in Aberdeenshire, GlenDronach lies at the threshold of Speyside, nestled within outstanding scenic panoramas and a pristine environment. GlenDronach 12 Year Old is non chill filtered and matured in a selection of the finest Oloroso and Pedro Ximinez Sherry casks.
Deep amber, cherry wood sheen. Delicate mix of ripe autumnal fruits, blackberries and plum, candied orange, spiced oatmeal and toasted oak. Flavours of fine Oloroso Sherry and bitter chocolate sauce over festive plum pudding, infused with fabulous spicy notes, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. Full bodied finish with smooth tannins.
