Riesling Great Southern Western Australia
Howard Park is internationally feted as one of the new world's great Riesling wines, achieving superstar status after claiming gold at the prestigious London International. Fruit is grown to some of the most elevated vineyards around Mount Barker and the Porongurups, nourished by a continental pattern of warm days and cold nights, which translate into vibrant fruit exhibiting zest and super fine citric minerality. A Riesling of clarity and purity of expression, exciting vibrancy and freshness, well constructed to continue evolving or to be enjoyed as a young wine.
Howard Park is selected from the best batches of free run juice, wines which can demonstrate great potential to age well and to develop toastyness and complexity with a greater mouthfeel. Free run juices are tighter and more finely structured without any phenolic character, qualities that contribute to the excellence of Howard Park. Balance is maintained and crop levels are kept low. The fruit is picked at healthy baume levels and processed immediately. The juices characteristically exhibit finely pitched acidity and wonderfully pungent citrus aromatics. Extensive blending trials of the free run batches are routinely carried out to finish a wine that's remarkably powerful yet wonderfully elegant. Alcohol 12.0%
Pale straw colour, pronounced green hues at the rim. Nose shows lime, granite and floral notes of apple blossom and jasmine. The palate has great focus and purity of fruit with a pithy lime and mineral texture balanced by clean acidity. The intense lime fruit characters drive through the finish which is tightly wound yet lingering with floral and wet stone hints.
