Established 1973, Woodlands of Wilyabrup were one of the first vineyards in Margaret River, planted with a view to emulating the great growths of Bordeaux. Recipients of the highly prestigious Jack Mann Memorial Medal and Wine Industry Lifetime Achievement Award for their tremendous vintages of all things Cabernet. Assembling the rich Medoc style blends are what Woodlands do best. Painstakingly crafted by hand, to challenge the primacy of the illustrious Chateaux de la rive gauche, very few vineyards yield the quality of fruit that merits vintaging into a statuesque wine dominated by the prettily fragrant Cabernet Franc. There are four tiny patches of vine at Scotchman's Hill, which have been mollycoddled by Robin Brockett, since the start of his tenure as chief winemaker in the 1980s. Excruciatingly limited after a strict pruning and rigorous sorting of fruit, they each yield a mere hundred cases of wine. Brockett has set aside the precious harvests of these superior blocks for his own label, a personal project to hand craft the finest of vintage, an exclusive range of the Bellarine's most elite single vineyard efforts. So besotted is Brockett by the spectacular quality of fruit from these four regal parcels, he has imported two 800 Litre Tuscan vinification Amphora from the.. Brockett begets the best of bellarine»
Originally formulated by John Charles Brown OBE in 1954 and crafted to this very day in the exact same manner, Brown Brothers flagship icon endures as one of the nation's most distinguished single vineyard wines. Mondeuse plantings were brought to Australia in the early 1900s by the legendary Francois de Castella of St Hubert fame, they have remained the most precious parcel of Brown Brothers heirloom vines since the 1920s. At Milawa, Mondeuse translates into an inky, deeply tannic wine, it forms synergies with the sweet fruit plumpness of Shiraz and statuesque elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon to coalesce into a rich, opulent style of eloquence and structure... Established 1851 by the French Marist order, Mission Estate are New Zealand's oldest winery, under continuous management ever since. The city of Lyon's Society of Mary sailed to New Zealand with little more than faith, fair winds and a few healthy vines. Agriculture and livestock were a necessity, but the establishment of a productive vineyard was essential. The area is now known as Hawke's Bay, internationally renowned for the rich terroirs of Gimblett Gravels, home of New Zealand's most salient brands... The burgundy tradition of te ika a maui»

Scotchmans Hill Scotchmans The Hill Chardonnay CONFIRM VINTAGE

Chardonnay Victoria
Mount Bellarine, on which Scotchmans Hill is located, is an extinct volcano where thick, black, moisture retentive and fertile volcanic soils of black clay with basalt subsoil lend individual and intense flavours to the wines. Chardonnay grapes grown here exhibit penetrating characters of stonefruit and melon with firm acid structures and crisp textures. Scotchmans Hill also retain vineyards in the King Valley where the cooler climes produce a softer, rich style of Chardonnay with vivid expressions of yellow peach, melons and aromatic tropical fruits.
The deep red clay loams and higher aspects of the King Valley invigorate the vines into producing healthy Chardonnay grapes with lively varietal characters. Parcels are harvested and delivered immediately to the Scotchmans Hill wineworks at Geelong where they are vinified alongside a core of Chardonnay grown to local vineyards. Grapes are crushed and inoculated in temperature controlled tanks by a combination of cultured and indigenous yeasts to provide complexity and enhance aromatics. Juces are vinified at cooler temperatures without any malolactic fermentation, followed by an unoaked maturation on gross yeast sediment lees for three months to derive added textures and enrich the palate.
Mid straw colour with a green tinge. Lifted, intense nose of stonefruit, melon, tropical fruits and nashi pear. Full, fresh and lively this fruit driven unoaked Chardonnay has stone fruits, melon and tropical flavours which dominate the front palate. Good acidity and fruit intensity gives the wine overall balance. Serve slightly chilled with seafood, chicken pasta or Al fresco.
