Beechworth attracts the most artisanal winemakers, the region's rich mineral soils and parched, undulating terrains, breed wines of vigorous flavour, crystalline textures and boney savoury tannins. The first parcel of Crown Land in the region was acquired by Isaac Phillips in 1857, he christened his estate Golden Ball and built a hotel named Honeymooners Inn, servicing miners on their way up the steep trails to the Beechworth goldfields. The old pub remains but the surrounding land has been turned over to viticulture, planted to vine in the nineteen naughties, it produces a quality of wine that's reserved for the nation's most exclusive winelists. Served by savvy sommeliers and savoured by the most discerning patrons, the limited releases of Golden Ball are an essential experience for aspirants of grand Victorian growths... Sons Of Eden Sons of Eden Romulus Old Vine Shiraz CONFIRM VINTAGE

Shiraz Barossa South Australia
The ancient Romans made no secret that their success was due to a merciless use of power. In furtherance of their aim to sire generations of ruthless warriors and entrepreneurs, they taught their youth the myth of twins who established a city state. Remus was the sophisticated one and Romulus was a brute. Romulus slayed his gentler brother and gave his name to a great empire. Sons of Eden offer both, Remus of Eden Valley, elegant and refined, or the rich and powerful Romulus of Barossa, siblings and adversaries, destined to an eternal rivalry for your favour.

Harvests of old vine Shiraz are assembled, from splendid sites eighty years of age and more, in the premiere viticultural precincts of Moppa and Light Pass. Grapes are all hand picked, destemmed and crushed into small, open top ½ tonnes fermenters. A variety of vinification techniques are employed, unique to each parcel, to create layers of flavour and complexity. Batches are hand plunged daily, for gentle extraction of colour, flavour and tannin. After an extended term on skins, ferments are pressed to a selection of predominately new American oak hogsheads for completion, a course of malolactic and twenty months maturation. Components are assembled and bottled without fitration.
Deep crimson colour. Complex aromas of densely ripe plum, currants and red berry fruits, seasoned by liquorice notes, milled spice and vanilla bean. A powerful and fleshy palate of peppery plums, piquant red berries and oaken spice are framed by a border of fine American oak and supported by a length of persistent, firm, silky tannins.
