Sauvignon Blanc Victoria
Victoria's scenic Pyrennees Ranges are blessed by long, cool ripening seasons which encourages grapes to develop a full spectrum of varietal flavours. Tasmania is fast gaining an international reputation for vintages of sophisticated, continental styles, its terroirs and clime so similar to the great winegrowing regions of the old world. Taltarni have taken the pick of fruit from the most splendid vineyards, to fashion into a dynamic Sauvignon Blanc that's so much better than the sum of parts. A match to grilled calamari or warm chicken caeser.
At a latitude of 37˚, the Pyrenees Ranges lie in a perfect climatic band for growing white varietal grapes. Sauvignon Blanc is harvested at night to maximize freshness, through separate pickings, early for fresh, zesty citrus characters and slightly later for blackcurrant passionfruit flavours. Fruit is whole bunch pressed for optimal skin contact, batches are fermented at lower temperatures to optimise fragrant aromatics. Components are aged on sedimentery yeast lees while treated to regular battonage, infusing eleganca and subtle complexity. A short term of age in seasoned oak is followed by assemblage into the finished wine, stabilized and filtered prior to bottling. Alcohol 13.2%
Pale straw, bright green hues. Fresh and lively nose of lemon and passionfruit notes, guavas, herbaceousness and straw. The refreshingly zesty natural acidity is perfectly accompanied by persistent, sweet fruit flavours, grapefruits and lime, a textural mid-palate from lees contact. An outstanding combination of vibrant tropical fruit and green vegetable characters, before a refreshingly crisp finish.
