Established 1853 by George Friedrich Schmidt, who acquired eighteen choice hectares of viticulture at Tanunda along Siegersdorf Road, for the peppercorn price of a pound per acre, Haan endures as one of the Barossa's quietly achieving, arcane old vineyards. Distinguished in the 21st century by a streak of prestigious industry accolades, Australian Wine Producer of Year, Gold Medal and Trophy for Best Blended Red at the illustrious London International Wine & Spirit Competition. Much of Haan's modest production is always retained by the softly spoken estate's most ardent enthusiasts. Shrewd aspirants will also seize the opportunity to retain a case or two of the heirloom vineyard's most recent vintage. A graceful style of opaque fruit characters, savoury and brooding, inebriating for its redolence of Barossa earth, mesmerising for its intricacy, dressed in a veil of refined,.. Tanunda tradition»
Grown to the frigid climes of Central Otago, the vines at Prophet's Rock were established 1999 to the most auspicious sites in the nether regions around the ancient goldfields of Bendigo Creek. Challenging aspects with breathtaking views of Cromwell Basin and Pisa Ranges, these are places defined by their fortuitous soils and favourable climes, tiny parcels of vine capable of just a few hundred cases each vintage, picked for their confluence of growing conditions and husbanded by a devout cadre. The winemaking is decidedly French, small vessels and wild yeasts, followed by an extended term on sedimentary lees for opulence. Invigorated by the warmth of alluvial pebbles and infused by the minerality of quartz schists, the opportune vines yield a small range of wines, made by environmental purists in the old fashioned way, crafted to the most uncompromising standards and.. Vega Sicilia Unico Cosecha 2007 CONFIRM 2007 VINTAGE

Vega Sicilia Unico Cosecha 2007 - Buy
Tempranillo Cabernet Sauvignon Ribera Del Duero Spain
Unico Cosecha is a very long lived wine. Components of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec or Merlot, vary from vintage to vintage, retaining a remarkable youthfulness of fruit and seamless integration with oak after ten years ageing under the Vega Sicilia cellars.
Vega Sicilia is unquestionably a unique wine, one of the great Spanish classics. It's personality is derived from the quality of fruit, rigour at elevage and uncompromising attention to detail throughout vinification. The ageing of Unico Cosecha begins in the January following vintage, initially in large capacity wooden vats for up to two years before a regimen of racking into a progression of new and seasoned, estate coopered oak casks. Over a course of seven to ten years, the wine is transferred from younger to older oak, with a view to achieving harmony and integration. After several years of racking and transfer, Unico Cosecha is finally rested in larger wooden vats and prepared for bottling.
Cherry with ruby robes. A complexity of aromas, fine oak, compote and balsam, rosemary and menthol. Palate entry is subtle and discreet, followed by an opulence of fruit characters. Notes of tobacco and menthol, blackberries and prune integrate with the extravagant oak, supported by dusty, leafy tannins, for a wine of remarkable aromatic complexity and immeasurable palate persistence.
