Chardonnay South Australia
Yalumba are proud of their tradition in taking a holistic, environmentally conscientious approach to viticulture. Ever since establishment by Samuel Smith in 1849, the priority has been a focus on responsible land management. The name Yalumba is in reference to this fundamental principle, an indigenous word meaning all the land around. The label of Y Series is adorned by a Cape Barren Goose, one of many endangered species which have found sanctuary within the refuge of Yalumba vineyards.
Y Series expresses the lively personality and colourful 150 year history of Yalumba's Hill Smith family, Australia's eldest independent winemaking dynasty. A fresh and flavoursome, modern style, from vineyards yielding Chardonnay berries with lifted tropical flavours, truly the fruit of dedicated labour, creative thinking and aspirations of Yalumba's talented team. The ultimate style is captured by picking the grapes when flavours are fresh and lively, harvested early to create a crisp, food friendly wine. Cooler ferments are employed to retain the freshness of grapes. Y Series is treated to a spell on yeast lees, adding richness and infusing the palate with flavour.
Pale straw with green hue. The nose opens to a bouquet of peaches and cream, brulee, white blossoms and citrus notes. Fresh and lively with enticing hints of exotic spice, the palate offers generosity, lees complexity, lovely weight of fruit with good length of fresh peach flavours. Vibrant and clean, finishing with a crisp citrus line. Enjoy with grilled eggplant, basil and haloumi.
