The crafting and assemblage of Howard Park Sauvignon Blanc focuses on the regional eloquence of fruit, to build layers of flavour, structure and texture, while permitting the influence of terroir and clime to speak. A fine and linear wine, displaying an intensity of natural Riesling charm, Mount Barker brings unique gooseberry and stonefruit characters, lime citrus and refined acidity. Margaret River contributes palate weight and varietal fruit, lemon /lime citrus and black currant, exquisitely perfumed by notes of elder flower and sweet herb.
Howard Park are only ever produced in small quantities, conspicuous for their exquisite balance between elegance and power. Their well defined Sauvignon Blanc exhibits wonderfully pungent aromatics, the Margaret River component especially contributes wonderful palate weight to the finished wine. Most of the batches are kept separate throughout the vinification to maintain delicate fruit flavours. Grapes are immediately processed to ensure the highest quality free run juices, tighter and more finely structured without any phenolic character. A component is oak barrel fermented to add complexity and richness. A number of blends are trialled to achieve a wine that's powerful while elegant.
Light straw, green hues. Bouquet exhibits a wonderfully fragrant nose of snow pea, guava and dried sage with hints of passionfruit. Juicy and tight, citrus acidity, the palate offers herbal and grassy notes along with some weight from the barrel ferments. Fashioned into a drink now styling, Howard Park finishes on a length of crisp acidity and refined palate texture, fruit driven and brightly lit.
