For nearly two centuries, a small team of dedicated islanders have worked to create the most distinctive fine Whisky in the world. An assemblage of Islay Malts which have been matured in a combination of American bourbon barrels and oloroso sherry casks. It's a marriage that's made in heaven, as the sherried, oaky flavours of the second fill European oloroso components create harmony with the creamy, smooth, sweet flavours of bourbon barrel. An idyllic fusion, made even smoother after maturing for a quarter of a century.
Bright red gold. At bottling, strength the aroma seems quite closed, giving only a rich, sweet scent, a touch of water releases multitude of different characters. The initial sweet, sherry sweetness is quickly followed but the enduring Islay peat tang. After the opening burst of flavour comes a smooth fruit ripeness that complements the tang of salt in the background. Rich round and full. The burst of peat that fills the mouth is quickly restrained by a sherry sweetness that slowly develops into spicy apple fruitiness. Very long and warming, lingering on the distinct tang of Islay.
