Sauvignon Blanc Hawkes Bay New Zealand
An invigoratingly pure varietal white by top winemaking marksman Denis Gunn, expressing the qualities of Hawkes Bay terroir, focusing on the strengths of the Gunn vineyard. Completely satisfying, redolent with zing galore and the big fruit driven character of the district, made in an uncomplicated early drinking style. A sensational, well balanced and fully integrated Sauvignon Blanc upon release, you'll enjoy Gunn Estate just on it's own, or as a smart accompaniement to fresh grilled fishes and crispy skin chicken.
The site of Gunn Estate's Hawkes Bay vineyards is protected from the prevailing northwest winds by the surrounding limestone hills, creating an unusually warm microclimate which stimulates the local ripening conditions. The soils are also wine friendly, retaining the warmth and draining freely to inhibit vigour of the vines, which serves to concentrate flavours in the grapes. Hawke's Bay indian summers lead to stunningly flavoured grapes. Overall, physiological maturity is achieved across all varieties, and flavours are intense. Grapes are gently pressed and coolly vinified to retain the vivacious fruit characters, racked off lees and assembled into the finished wine. Alcohol 12.0%
Pale straw with green hues. A bouquet of dry and lifted aromas of green vegetable, citrus and floral characters over scents of ripe passionfruit, mango and lychee along with hints of lemon and grapefruit. The entire length of the wine is fresh and lively, citrus flavours are balanced by lively tropical notes. Texture, richness and universally appealing expressions throughout the nose and palate, crunchy apple acidity accompanies the wine to a tantalizing finish followed by a splendid, lingering aftertaste.
