Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Margaret River Western Australia
Voyager is about the application of simple vineyard philosophies rather than the application of new technologies. There are a number of differences in viticultural techniques, but the basic vineyard principles common to the world's great wines are terroir, minimal intervention and vine management.
Voyager Estate began life as Freycinet, its first vines being planted in 1978. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes are harvested in excellent condition to a timetable determined by physiological ripeness. Each compononet is fermented in open or upright fermenters with regular, gentle pump overs or plunging. Fermentation temperatures were kept below 30 degrees and lasted up to fourteen days, before being pressed or allowed to stay on skins for additional texture and tannin development. The season delivered a wonderfully aromatic wine with a bouqet of cassis, violets and dark fruits, displaying classic cabernet varietal character. Voyager spent twenty four months in exclusively French oak of which half was new.
Ruby with violet hues. A wonderfully aromatic wine displaying classic Cabernet cassis, violets and juicy dark fruit. Blackberries, cherry and dark chocolate combine to create a layered, complex nose. Voyager reveals an intense, dark berry fruit spectrum coupled with a rich, lush mouthfeel. High qaulity French oak has given the wine great definition and a long, soft tannin structure and finish.
