Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec Petit Verdot Margaret River Western Australia
Vasse Felix were briefed in the 1970s by Dr Tom Cullity, Margaret River's founding vigneron, to make the best possible wine. Heytesbury is a flagship regional Cabernet, the fruits of over thirty years viticulture at Vasse Felix. Balance, elegance, complexity and restrained power are the hallmarks of Heytesbury, the direct result of an uncompromising approach to quality. Heytesbury embodies the Vasse Felix commitment to excellence and as such, is named after the Holmes à Court family company, to which Vasse Felix is the crowning jewel.
Established 1967, the Vasse Felix property is planted at the heart of Wilyabrup, within the nucleus of premium Margaret River viticulture. Low yielding, dry grown vines planted on some of the world's oldest soils enjoy long, warm growing seasons and cooling summer breezes from the nearby Indian and Southern Oceans. This moderating effect yields grapes of exceptional concentration and intensity, whilst retaining elegance and finesse. Heytesbury is a selection of the best barrels from the best batches. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Petit Verdot are separately treated to small fermenters, before being basket pressed and sent to a selection of the finest French oak barriques for eighteen months. Alcohol 14.5%
A beautiful, deep dark plum colour. Fragrant, lifted blackcurrant and peppermint leaf, blueberries and violet, coconut and rich perfumes of oak. The palate is bright with fresh, a splash of acidity and nice creaminess to the middle palate. The elegant acid structure and concentrated blackberry flavours provide a depth that can be savoured long after the wine is finished. The tannins are firm, Heytesbury finishes dry with pretty flavours of violets and dark berry.
