Cabernet Sauvignon Langhorne Creek South Australia
Wolf Blass Grey was originally produced exclusively from Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon. The region is renowned for its alluvial soil which produces sensational Cabernet wines. 1995 was one of the driest vintages in South Australia for many years, resulting in Cabernet Sauvignon of intense varietal characters. Deep and entrancing with concentrated and minty menthol dark tarry fruits, lavishly treated with smoky, creamy and treacle oak, showing excellent varietal berry characters, there are ample nuances of cassis, curranty and violet undertones.
By the legendary John Glaetzer. Grey Label has always been produced from the best Cabernet Sauvignon fruit that Wolf Blass can source from good vineyards at Langhorne Creek. This exceptional Cabernet growing district is renowned for its unique soils, nourished by the Bremer River's flooding, which drives the development of powerful characters and distinctive flavours in the local Cabernet fruit. The wine underwent a relatively warm fermentation in order to extract the maximum colour and flavour from the excellent Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Following pressing, the the batches of juice were fermented, then matured in new American oak casks for twenty eight months. Alcohol 13.5%
