Riesling Eden Valley South Australia
Time has shown the Eden Valley to be a natural home for Riesling, which to quote Peter Lehmann, is the noblest white wine variety. Lehmann's Eden Valley editions can boast the unique distinction of winning Best Riesling in the World Trophy at the prestigious London International on no fewer than five occasions, more than any winemaker in the world. Floral and delicately perfumed, fleshed by a hint of stonefruit and driven by citrus spice, the perfect accompaniment to all styles of seafood and white meats.
Riesling was first planted to the shallow, rocky soils of Eden Valley in the early 1850s. The remarkably favourable aspects and climes were destined to yield many of Australia's most memorable vintages of great white wine. Fruit is sourced from mature vineyards, owned and operated by traditional growers who passionately care for their vine. There are ten key growers of preeminent quality Eden Valley Riesling, most of these vineyards are between thirty and forty years old. Fruit is picked early, crushed and chilled, the juices are separated immediately from skins to enhance delicacy. Following a cold vinification, the wine is clarified and promptly bottled to retain the vibrant Eden Valley characters.
Delicate green/gold hue in the glass. Pristine floral notes to the bouquet with distinctive lime characters. A rejuvenating wine showing the wonderful crisp mineral acidity so essential for the finest Eden Valley Riesling. The refreshing lime flavours carry through on the palate which has a zesty freshness, a steely minerality and a strikingly clean finish. Will continue to develop honeyed complexity in the bottle if you're prepared to wait.
