Shiraz Heathcote Victoria
Outstanding Langtons Classification. A superior vineyard wine, named for the winemaker's daughter (also a winemaker), a red label commemorates the devastating bush fires of 1987. Simpy try the majestically profound Emily's Paddock, or Georgia's Paddock Shiraz and you will find some of Australia's greatest Shiraz, ultimate expressions of the terroir of the Heathcote region!” -Oz Clarke,.
Jasper Hill has placed the Heathcote region firmly in the minds of Shiraz lovers around the world. Chapoutiers of the Rhone Valley have invested in a joint venture with Jasper Hill to develop an adjacent vineyard. Beyond the sensational site, it's the commitment to low yields, dry farming and non-interventionist, organic viticultural practices that place Jasper Hill among the top Australian Shiraz producers. The two vineyard sites are named after daughters Emily and Georgia. The unirrigated, low-yielding, drought and frost ravaged Georgia's Paddock is a must for the Shiraz afficianado. Following vinification she is treated to maturation in a combination of new and prior use French and American oaks. Approx 14.5%
Dark red colour. Fine bouquets of florals and bright fruit, cranberrry and cherry, plums and spiceyness, powerful savoury expressions of smoked meats and game, tarry, earthy, so very redolent of excellent, clean oak. Myriads of dark fruit flavours, notes of bitter cherry, candied liquorice, violet and rose pastille. A core of super concentrated fruit encased in fine, firm tannins, a wine which truly clings to the palate, and grows perfume-like nuances of soil and fruit as it works with the air.
