Penolds Grange is unique. It is a beautifully seductive, richly concentrated wine which evokes the spirit of the Australian landscape, its natural affinity is with Shiraz. The remarkable Grange winemaking philosophy has at it's roots, a unique winecraft which Max Schubert adopted from the Penfolds regime of making superlative fortified wines. Each vintage of Grange has its own vintage character, which continually evolves and surprises. A blend of 90% Shiraz and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Magill Estate, the Kalimna and other Barossa vineyards. A wet growing season followed by a fine but cool vintage. Maturation for eighteen months in new American oak hogsheads. Alcohol 12.80% Acidity 6.70g/L pH 3.69.
A savoury wine, the palate is restrained with fine, leafy loose knit tannins. An elegant style with a clean dry finish. Comments by Max Schubert: Medium brick red. A savoury wine with herb garden/prune/ meaty aromas with hints of mint/spice. The palate is restrained with herb/chocolate flavours and fine, leafy, loose-knit tannins. An elegant style with a clean dry finish.
