Shiraz Eden Valley South Australia
Hill of Grace is a magnificent Eden Valley Shiraz, fashioned from vineyard blocks up to a century and a half of age. Full bodied and stunningly perfumed, endowed with a concentration of spellbinding old vine characters, the distinguished and compelling Hill of Grace is acclaimed internationally as one of the new world's great first growths in wine.
The sturdy, gnarled old Shiraz vines on Hill of Grace are dry grown and yield an average two tonnes to the acre. The fruit is normally picked early to mid April, at different times according to ripeness and maturity, to be separately handled as individual lots. Keeping the blocks separate allows for variations of soil types, vigor and age of the vines, all of which create different profiles which come together to form a part of the complete wine. Growing season 1995 saw adverse weather conditions, frosts and drought, a dry spring and summer reduced the crops. Despite reduced yields of up to 40% the 1995 vintage produced a limited amount of high quality wines.
