Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec Clare Valley South Australia
Each year, winemaker Peter Barry takes delivery of three little pigs. Whilst these personable porkers exude charm and affability, Peter finds their contribution to the family's famous Christmas hams of most interest. Three Little Pigs shows excellent depth of fruit and a solid structure, the palate is generous with a focal point of primarily blackberry, plum and sloe berries over the savouryness of oak and fine grained, talcy tannins. An excellent choice with good food, highly recommended with barbequed ribs, pork and gourmet bangers.
Jim Barry began with seventy acres of land, planting his first vineyard to Shiraz, an inspired choice of grape and location. Three Little Pigs is a Shiraz based wine firmed up by Cabernet Sauvignon and brought forward for early drinking by a measure of Malbec. Clare Valley is one of Australia's most prestigious wine regions, internationally renowned for Cabernet and conspicuous for Shiraz. Situated amongst beautiful rolling hills, stimulated by ideal winter rainfall and a Mediterranean climate, Jim Barry's vineyards yield the finest wine grapes in Clare Valley. Alcohol 13.6%
Deep black colour with purple hue. Generous bouquet, lifted floral purfume backed by characters of cedar and cranberry, spearmint and loganberry. A backdrop of characters exhibiting fine distinction, cigar box and cinammon notes, grilled capsicum and black pepper. Very well balanced, medium bodied palate with nuances of sour cherry, raspberries and strawberry. The tannins are ripe and soft through to the fine, lengthy finish.
