Chardonnay Margaret River Western Australia
Margaret River makes bold, flavoursome Chardonnay wines, offering a weight of fruit that drinks brilliantly without being aged or exposed to oak. A conspicuous wine show competition champion, judiciously medium bodied, fragrant with grapefruits and honey dew, kept vital and fresh in modern unwooded styling. The profound richness of natural Chardonnay fruit is upfront and central, lingering at the finish on the toothsome varietal characters of fresh fresh cut melons, tangerines and peach.
The philosophy at Watershed has always been to produce fine, distinctively regional wines that are elegant and assertive with glorious fruit flavours. Awards or triumphs at national and international wine competitions have always been a second priority but have eventuated nonetheless. The growing conditions around Watershed's vineyards, right at the atrium of the dynamic Margaret River appellation, are considered ideal for the production of exuberant Chardonnay wines. Grapes are harvested to healthy levels of baume, exhibiting excellent concentration and clean acids. To retain all the natural assertiveness and intensity of flavour, Shades is treated to a pristine vinification, unwooded and unoaked. Alcohol 13.3%
Bright straw hue. A classic varietal Chardonnay bouquet of peaches, melons and citrus. On the palate vibrant notes of stonefruit are complemented by fresh grapefruit characters before a slightly nut infused, soft finish and creamy finish. Shades should be enjoyed right now alongside chicken or Vietnamese faire.
