Spencer Hill Latitude 41 Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough + Nelson New Zealand
Spencer Hill make wine because they enjoy the life, the viticulture and the art of winemaking itself. There is no reward like personal fulfillment and Spencer Hill are all about sharing the smile. The limited release Latitude 41 is fashioned from a collation of Nelson River and Marlborough Valley fruit. By combining the best from both districts, the Spencer Hill team have assembled a South Island Sauvignon Blanc of exquisite charm and generous palate weight. A crisp, mouthfilling wine brimming with luscious south sea fruit characters, citrus and vanilla.
Philip and Sheryl Jones established their operations in 1990. Philip has worked for many years as consultant to the agricultural industry, he carries degrees in viticulture and Integrated Pest Management. Latitude 41 is a full bodied Sauvignon Blanc exhibiting layers of fruit which can be associated with the different soil types and climatic conditions of two distinct terroirs. Slow ripening conditions develop fine acid balance and mouthfilling flavours in the grapes. Fruit is crushed and the juices are settled before a long cool vinification at 11°C. Batches are filled to a selection of spiced vanilla French oak barrels for five months ageing on sedimentery lees, enriching the palate and adding complexity.
Brilliant lemon green hue. Tropical and gooseberry bouquet over hints of fine oak. A rich palate offering ripe flavours of passionfruit, gooseberries and melon, a touch of oak, creaminess and complexity. The powerful Latitude 41 offers fruit sweetness combined with a refreshing minerality, a fine match to Shanghai dumplings or grilled deep sea scallops.
