Semillon Sauvignon Blanc Hunter Valley New South Wales
McWilliams retain some of the Hunter Valley's and Margaret River's finest sites. The estate has made fortuitous use of their widely dispersed vineyard assets to isolate the perfect parcels of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc for an east meets west, classically styled dry white. The team have collated the pick of their West Australian fruit, steely and piquant grapes with crunchy green characters, passionfruit and lime. Delivered to the estate's wineworks at Pokolbin and assembled with some of the Hunter Valley's best Semillon, into a tightly knit, vigorous fruit forward white.
Mount Pleasant is one of the most awarded wineries in Australia. The Hunter Valley is widely regarded as the home of Semillon, and the McWilliam's Mount Pleasant vineyards are the source of some of Australia's finest. Hand harvesting techniques are used to carefully select the fruit, ensuring that only the healthiest and ripest berries are picked. Grapes are delivered to the winery where they are destemmed, crushed and must chilled, allowing the juices to be drained from the skins. Fermentation using a neutral yeast is slow and cool to retain natural fruit flavours. Unoaked and unwooded, the finished wine was stabilized and immediately bottled into an engagingly fruit driven classic dry white. Approx 10.5%
A very pale straw colour with green hues. Gooseberry, passionfruit and lime aromas with subtle hints of fresh cut straw. Fresh, crisp fruit flavours of passionfruit and lime gives the palate great length. The wine finishes with lovely texture and ripe honeydew melon flavours.
