Chardonnay Yarra Valley Victoria
All White Box wines are made from grapes grown to estate vineyards within Heathcote and Yarra Valley. The fruit is always selected from the most appropriate site depending on the nature and variety of wine. The estate's Chardonnay is crafted from batches of the best Yarra Valley fruit. The cooler climate of the Yarra Valley lends itself to the production of Chardonnay, producing a more intensely flavoured and expressive wine. Structure and finesse, well balanced acid brings the natural fruit sweetness to a long, clean finish of exceptional length, taught and crisp.
White Box are an enduring example of environmentally friendly practices. The splendid facilities are harmoniously positioned amongst one of Australia's largest remaining stands of eucalypt tree, the White Box. The colours of the winery were selected to integrate with the beauty of the surrounding environment - the ochre red of the roof matches the bright colour of the Cambrian soils of the district and the straw yellow of the walls is the colour of the summer crops and pastures. The winemaking team are dedicated to implementing a cooperative approach to the grape growing and winemaking processes, where attention to detail is paramount in producing the highest quality wine possible.
Pale gold hues. Aromas of fig and coconut, nectarine and tropical fruits predominate. The palate is round and full, with grapefruit and pineapple flavours complemented by complex yeast autolysis and malolactic fermentation characteristics. Concentrated stonefruit flavours balanced by the secondary nuances derived from partial maturation on lees in French oak barriques.
