Sauvignon Blanc Semillon Frankland Western Australia
Pioneers of the Semillon/ Sauvignon blend, Tyrrell has extended the winery's reach of resources for this popular style of wine to good vineyards in Western Australia. The microclimes here are simply idyllic for producing delicious classic dry whites.
Tyrrell's is a story about pioneers, men and women who transformed Australia, planted grapes, and looked for better ways to make wine. From historical roots within the Hunter Valley, Tyrrell has reached across the continent to locate fruit from the best vineyards. Batches of Sauvignon Blanc were crushed at the Tyrrell facility in Western Australia, quickly followed by a delivery to the Pokolbin winery, where they were joined by, and fermented separately to, components of Hunter Valley Semillon. Following a cool fermentation in steel vessels using aromatic yeasts to maximise the grape's fragrant qualities, the wine was quickly filtered and blended to retain all the fresh sherbet fruit flavours. Alcohol 11.5%
Pale with a lime green hue. The wine displays an herbaceous nose, hints of passionfruit, the Semillon provides a citrus overtone. On the palate the wine is in fine balance, perfect weight and mouthfeel. Components are harmoniously pitched to present a fine balance between complex fruit and drying minerality. The Semillon's acid structure ensures a fresh, lively finish.
