Pinot Gris Grigio Tamar Valley Tasmania
Devil's Corner is a section of Tamar River planted to the Kayena Vineyard. It is a calm area of refuge for sailors away from the potentially wild waters of Whirlpool Reach to the south, it has been used as such since earliest settlement. Devil's Corner makes a pure, crisp and refreshing Pinot Grigio wine, displaying vibrant fruit qualities, a high degree of approachability and universal appeal. Like all Tamar Ridge releases under the Devil's Corner label, this Pinot Grigio is made for early drinking, preferably alongside a feast of the freshest Tassie seafood.
From grapes grown to the finest vineyards along the Tamar Valley in northern Tasmania. Great wines are made in the vineyard and it is the exceptional quality of Pinot Grigio grown to the Kayena site which forms the backbone of Devil's Corner. The low to moderate yields produce small volumes of good quality fruit. Pinot Grigio is harvested and crushed to press with initial oxidative handling to achieve colour stability. Following the crush, juices are run off skins immediately after pressing and cold settled to remove solids. Juices are racked and fermented in tank under strict temperature controls, a small amount of partial lees contact and stirring contributes in mouth feel and complexity.
Bright pale straw. Fragrant and enticing with highlights of cardamom spice and ripe pears against an attractive herbal backdrop. Showing excellent weight and intensity and loaded with the flavour of ripe, yellow pears alongside some spice and herbal notes. The finish is crisp and clean, with just enough acidity to leave the mouth watering for more.
