Gewurztraminer Riesling New South Wales
The history of Tyrrell is synonymous with Hunter Valley wines. Sustainable land management techniques and evolving standards of viticulture mean that the Tyrrell vineyards of today are yielding the highest quality fruit ever and that the wines have never been better. An unashamed crowd pleaser, Old Winery Traminer Riesling is made to a popular, fresh and fruity style. The distinctive flavours of two classic varietals combine well to create a wine that is delicious on its own and serves as a highly versatile accompaniment to a wide range of good foods.
Tyrrell's vineyards today can be found across many of Australia's best wine growing regions, but the finished wines still call the Hunter Valley home. Most of the distinguished Tyrrell wines are grown at Pokolbin in the heart of the Lower Hunter Valley, very near the winery itself. Tyrrell isolate parcels of fully compatible Riesling and Traminer fruit, to be vinified into a wine which is so much greater than the sum of the parts. Following the harvest and crush, varietal components are separately vinified at low temperatures to retain all the natural qualities of each fruit. After fermentation is complete, the wines are assembled and promptly bottled to capture all the bright elements in the finished wine. Alcohol 12.0%
Light straw in colour. A lifted aromatic nose, with a palate showing succulent apricot flavours from the Riesling, joined by a subtle spiciness from the Traminer. The finish is crisp, clean and refreshing with a perfect balance between the residual sugar and the acidity. Serve slightly chilled with piquant recipes.
