Deen De Bortoli created his Vat Series with the idea of developing a range of delicious, full flavoured, approachable wines. Deen personally selected the blends and chalked the numbers on the vats to identify them. Drought conditions led to an earlier vintage than previous years. Dry weather and warm sunny days with low crop levels have created wines with great flavour intensity. Each individual fruit parcel selected with winemaker and viticulturist based on fruit ripeness and flavour profile. Multi regional fruit selection is important to creating complexity in wine style. Cool maceration of skins with lengthy warm fermentation for gentle flavour extraction, minimal handling. Alcohol 14.0%
Deep purple colour with violet hues. Lifted blackberry and spice complemented with sweet vanillin oak. Rich plum and spice, intense fruit driven mid palate with silky oak providing a lingering finish. Try with red meats and pasta.
