Pinot Gris Grigio Muscat Gewurztraminer Semillon Barossa Adelaide South Australia
Intriguingly complex and sublime, Layers is fashioned as a whole that's so much greater than the sum of parts. A rich and exciting cepage of five grapes grown to good vineyards selected on the basis of varietal definition and consistency. The assemblage combines to form a white wine that's perfectly suited to a broad range of modern cuisines, a unique blend which offers a highly pleasurable journey of discovery to the senses. Don't be fooled by its easy drinking and approachable nature, each taste reveals another layer of subtle complexity.
Peter Lehmann retains access to some of the most salubrious vineyards in all South Australia. Layers is a melange of flavour drawn from five varietal grapes. When once asked why the Barossa could make so many different good wines, Peter Lehmann replied that it was plainly so. It's all about the Barossa's viticultural heritage, its ability to excel across a range of styles and its reputation as Australia's great winemaking region. Barossa grown Chardonnay and Semillon, Adelaide Plains Muscat, Gew├╝rztraminer and Pinot Gris from the Adelaide Hills, are all treated to a cold fermentation in temperature controlled tanks followed by an early bottling to achieve a lively, fresh yet complex white wine. Alcohol 11.5%
Attractive pale yellow with green tints. Aromas of citrus, hints of peach and an aromatic lifted from the spicey fruit. Layers offers excellent structure and a soft creamy mouthfeel, the complexity will compliment the diverse textures and elements of modern fusion cuisine. Pinot Gris provides nuttiness and texture, Muscat contributes aromatics, Gew├╝rztraminer adds spice, Chardonnay brings a touch of white peach and the Semillon provides backbone.
