A Coonawarra Cabernet of style and stature, vinified from fruit grown to old vines averaging over thirty years of age. Always the perennial favourite around auction markets, Black Label is one of Australia's most collectable wines. A profound and engaging experience when enjoyed in its youth, Black Label consistently delivers the potential for medium to long term cellaring.
Wynns own and operate most of the vines planted on Coonawarra's Terra rossa soils. As the pioneer winemaking estate of Coonawarra, Wynns also own the oldest stock. The salubrious vineyards have become highly sought real estate in their own rite, valued at $100,000 per hectare. Cabernet Sauvignon is Coonawarra's flagship, and Wynns are the regional benchmarks. Black Label s produced from the top 20% to 25% of Cabernet grapes grown to the Wynns estate properties. Vinified in a combination of fermentation vessels to achieve complexity, the finished wine is treated to seventeen months maturation in a selection of new and seasoned French and American oak barrels.
