Shiraz Barossa South Australia
The folks who make wine at Kellermeister wear boots and have purple hands. The winemaking here really is old world style, nothing is done by machine. Parcels of hand selected grapes from choice Barossa vineyards are fashioned into an exquisite Shiraz wine offering generous helpings of deliciously rich, sweet blackberry flavours and requiste Barossa dark chocolate characters, finishing long and fruit filled on a note of lingering spice. A superb choice with barbequed or roasted meats, rich desserts and fine aged cheese.
It all began in the late 1970s as Ralph and Val Jones sat with gumboots on, ankle deep in water, labouring into the night together. Kellermeister have since been selecting grapes from a rich tapestry of vineyards throughout the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Very old Shiraz vines line the road winding up to the Kellermeister cellar door. Each parcel contributes it's own unique characteristics, which the team endeavour to preserve in the finished wines. Adding to the character of contributions from vineyards are the individual personalities behind the grapes, a team of dedicated and passionate local growers who work tirelessly throughout the year to deliver the quality of fruit which is the life blood of Kellermeister wines.
Deep, bright red colour. A deliciously full bodied, ripe Shiraz displaying sweet blackberry jam fruit with hints of chocolate and spice. The subtle influence of French and American oak adds depth, giving the palate a rounder feel. Balanced acidity and soft, amiable yet chewy tannins, finishing persistent and long. Pair with rich aged chedder cheeses or grilled steak.
