Shiraz McLaren Vale South Australia
Serafino Maglieri came to McLaren Vale in 1968 and devoted his life to wine. From picking to pruning to cellarhand, he worked his way up to plant his own vines and build his first winery. He was twice crowned McLaren Vale Bushing King and claimed Trophy for Best Shiraz at the 1997 Great Australian Wine Challenge. He gained international renown after winning Trophy for Best Shiraz and Red Wine of the Year at the prestigious London International. Serafino Shiraz is an intense and concentrated full bodied effort with ripe fragrances and solid tannins.
The moderate growing seasons and pristine environs surrounding Serafino's vineyards along historic Kangarilla Road, contribute to wines which express the uniqueness of soil, sunshine and clime. Serafino's vineyards have expanded to three hundred acres of prime viticultural assets. Shiraz is crushed and destemmed into a number of open top four tonnes fermenters. Fruit is inoculated and vinified for several days, juices are racked and returned to skins throughout the ferments, while being pumped over two or three times daily. Upon completion, batches are pressed and treated to full malolactic, followed by racking to a selection of seasoned and new 300L French and American oak hogsheads for a year. Alcohol 14.0%
