Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Coonawarra South Australia
V & A Lane is a long, straight road that dissects Coonawarra's famous Terra rossa strip at it's midpoint. Originally surveyed in the 1850s, V & A Lane divides the bygone electorates of Victoria and Albert. Traditionally, it has been used as a landmark to separate northern and southern vineyards in Coonawarra, a prestigious slice of real estate and highly sought locality for planting Cabernet Sauvignon.
The distinctive quality of Shiraz from the V & A Lane vineyards exhibits a signature density and richness, the defining characteristic of this terroir, fortuitously positioned on the Coonawarra strip. V & A Lane is matured fifteen months in a selection of seasoned and new French oak hogsheads and barriques. Alcohol 13.5%
Deep crimson red colour. A bouquet of violets leads on to a nose of dark plum and cassis. Dark chocolate layers from the oak, structured without being overpowering. Rich and even palate with velvety tannins filling the mouth. Brambly Cabernet notes are foiled by fragrant spicy Shiraz, the structural Cabernet component makes a silky, gentle but lingering finish. Focused acid balances the dense fruit.
