Bleasdale Generations Shiraz 2013 CONFIRM 2013 VINTAGE

Shiraz Langhorne Creek South Australia
The first colonists to arrive in South Australia were brought to Kangaroo Island aboard HMS Buffalo in 1836. Sharing the journey was a veteran of the Royal Navy who had served aboard Lord Nelson's flagship HMS Victory. Frank Potts was an accomplished sailor and carpenter, he built many of the young colony's structures and trading vessels. The heritage listed wineworks at Bleasdale are only part of his legacy, six generations later, the Potts family call upon the original hand made basket press to process the fruit of Shiraz vines planted by Frank in 1858.

Exclusively Langhorne Creek Shiraz and nothing but the pick of the pick. Bunches of grapes are destemmed into traditional open fermenters and pumped over, up to four times daily throughout the peak of ferments. Batches are drained and pressed after nine to twelve days on skins, settled for a day and racked to a selection of new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads and puncheons for a year's maturation, bottled without filtration to retain texture and integrity. Alcohol 14.5%
Deep, dark garnet. Black bramble notes on the bouquet, currants and pepper notes, regional eucalypts and mint. Flavours of ripe plums and dark berry fruits, liquorice, pepper and fresh spice characters, beautifully supported by subtle oak, a multi dimensional wine brought into balance by a length of smooth round tannins.
