Tormaresca Neprica IGT Puglia 2013 CONFIRM 2013 VINTAGE

Negroamaro Primitivo Cabernet Sauvignon Puglia Italy
Negroamaro is a grape that's highly suited to the sun drenched limestone clays of Apulia, a gift from the ancient Greeks, it makes a deliciously pastoral style with substantial tannic grip. A close relative of Zinfandel, the Primitivo grape was introduced by Benedictine monks in search of an early ripening varietal. Assembled with Negroamaro and the noble Cabernet, it achieves a richly structured wine of engaging perfumes, maraschino notes and bright red fruit characters, the raunchiness of tobacco leaf and savoury sweetness of Apulian herb.

Tormaresca is the only winemaker with vineyards in both of Puglia’s elite viticultural regions. An assemblage of fruit from Tormaresca's Maime estate at San Pietro Vernotico and Bocca di Lupo at Minervino Murge, fashioned into a highly appealing Mediterranean style of table wine with extraordinary food matching qualities. Fruit is harvested across several stages of ripeness according to terroir and varietal, crushed into controlled fermenters and treated to several days on skins at warmer temperatures around 26°C. Following completion of vinification and a course of malolactic, batches are held on lees for eight months, a component is sent to a selection of well seasoned oak barriques before the final assemblage.
Intense ruby red. Red fruit, cherries and plum, florals of violet and rose, chocolates and pepper spice. Well structured, crisp with orchard fruit flavours, crunchy new cherries and red currant, a supple ovelay of chocolate bonbons and sprinkling of pot pouri seasoning, elegantly supported by fine tannins, long on red fruits on the lingering finish and satin textured aftertaste.
