Riesling Clare Valley South Australia
Pure varietal whites coming out of the Clare Valley are an inspiration to all winemakers, the distinctive qualities of the region imbue the gently flavoured wines with harmonies and charming florals. Lavender Hill is named after a stand of native shrub in the hills alongside the Jim Barry wineworks. Ever since the inaugural Jim Barry release, this genteel wine has been made from the small lavender infused parcel. Perfectly suited to spritzers, the residual sweetness makes it ideal for a variety of foods, seafood platters or Thai, good desserts and fine cheese.
Clare Valley is one of Australia's most prestigious Riesling growing regions. Jim Barry maintains the traditions of a family operated winery committed to producing quality wines through an innovative approach to viticulture and winemaking technology. Jim Barry has been home to some of Australia's most outstanding, award winning wines for many decades. The first time Jim Barry walked over the soils of Lavender Hill he recognised the suitability of the site to grow excellently flavoured white grapes. Fermentation of fully ripened, purposefully late picked Riesling grapes is arrested prior to completion, retaining a level of natural sweetness in perfect harmony with the zingy, crisp acid flavour profile. Alcohol 12.0%
Pale straw yellow with green hues. Lifted aromas of fresh honeydew, poached pear and lemon curd. The succulent palate presents a vast array of fruit characters, poached pear, lychee and guava with hints of wet slate. A welcoming, yet reserved natural sweetness is finely balanced with some lingering mineral acidity. Try mixing sparkling water with Lavender Hill over ice for a revitalizing spritzer.
