Chardonnay Margaret Swan Pemberton Western Australia
Discovering an unoaked Chardonnay with full palate and fine textures can be a pleasant surprise.
Harvests of Chardonnay are sourced from good vineyards around the warmer regions of the Swan Valley through to Blackwood, Geographe and Margaret River, to the cooler areas of Pemberton and Manjimup. Three months lees contact achieves a complexity of flavour that covers an enticing array from ripe peach, nectarine, and rockmelon, through to the leaner pineapple and grapefruit characters associated with cooler climates. After being destemmed and crushed, the fruit undergoes a controlled cool fermentation through select strains of yeast, to retain the full spectrum of Chardonnay characters. The final wine is assembled completely unwooded and unoaked.
Colour is a clear pale straw with brilliant green hues. Lifted pear, green apple, honeydew melon and zesty lemon citrus characters. Further romas of guava and mango, cashew nuts and zabayon. The palate is generous and rich with fresh, clean tropical fruit and stone fruit flavours, excellent acidity and subtle notes of sherbet. Enjoy with Fish & chips or Moroccan chicken.
