Sauvignon Blanc South Australia
An assemblage of fruit from an inventory of splendid Yalumba vineyards, sites which vary considerably, all add their own dimension to the overall flavour profile. The label here depicts the mercurial King George Whiting. Whenever a chance arises to take on the pescatorial pursuit, the team at Yalumba take up the challenge. If successful, they eat it with reverence and wash it down with the revitalizing crispness and fresh citrus flavours of Y Series Sauvignon Blanc.
Yalumba wines have a style all their own, influenced as they are by a diverse range of factors. Elements Yalumba likes to call the controllables, such as the Yalumba Vine Nursery and on site cooperage as well as other factors that cannot be emulated by any other winery. Y Series are the evolution of Yalumba's history and tradition combined with the estate's ongoing penchant for innovation. Grapes are treated to a course of twelve hours skin maceration prior to draining and gentle pressing. Juices are settled and cool fermented through the action of aromatic yeast to retain and enhance the fresh crisp varietal character. Batches are held on light lees until assemblage.
Bright, light straw colour. Characterised by aromas of intense passionfruit, freshness of green paw paw and nettle, mown grass and a touch of fragrant spice. The palate offers layers of flavour, lemons and tropical fruit, fresh cut herbs with textures that are succulent and long. It finishes with lingering and refreshing natural acidity.
