While the climate at Mount Langi Ghiran is marginal for grapegrowing, the spectacular setting creates a unique environment ideal for producing wines of distinctive character. The soils vary somewhat within the block which is an important contributor to the complexity of the wine. The finished wine is treated to an extended term in a selection of the finest oak barriques, coopered to winemaker Trevor Mast's specifications. The maturation of Langi Ghiran is always carefully timed to strike a balance of Shiraz fruit while offering a perfect measure of splendid oak.
Deep garnet colour. Fine aromas initially brooding open up to black cherry and tar, meatyness and spice, blackberries and anise, plums and creamy coconut oak. A palate brimming with blackberries and spice, peppery plum fruit, intense currant and meat reductions are framed by spritely cherry acids and sleek, satiny tannins. A match to the finest cuisine, complex meat recipes or the perfect Sunday roast.
