Multi Trophys Winner - A generously flavoured vintage from the renowned low yielding dry land Schobers vineyard and Provis vineyards in South Australia's Clare Valley. Leasingham's winemaker Kerri Thompson has crafted the most parched and austere fruit from the old and low yielding vines into an outstanding, award winning wine. A long dry ripening season led to a low yield vintage of intense berry flavours, long structure, mesmerising depth of flavour and soft generous tannins. A complex and concentrated classic Shiraz to be celebrated with slowly cooked beef and bay leaf casseroles, pot roasts and matured cheeses.
The renowned dryland Schobers vineyard in South Australia's Clare Valley produced the Jimmy Watson Trophy winning 94 Classic Clare Shiraz. This dominantly Clare Shiraz has an exceptional pedigree, previous vintages have also claimed multi awards including Winestate Magazine Wine of the Year Trophy. Fruit sourced from the dry land Schobers vineyard and 20 year old Provis Vineyard was used to craft a wine of intense concentration, power and length. Following fermentation in new American oak, this wine was matured for 18 months prior to release. Alcohol 14.0% T/Acidity 6.7 g/L pH 3.32.
Deep ruby red with purple hues showing brilliant clarity. Rich black berry, chocolate and spice on the nose integrated with earthy complexity, the wine displays attractive berry and plum aromas integrated with cedar and vanillin oak characters. Concentrated rich spicey cocoa and fruit flavours complexed by plum and cinnamon spice characters. Fine lingering tannins complex this stylish wine. Good textured palate and integrated vanillin with good persistence of flavours. A super vintage Clare Shiraz of exceptional lineage, that whie capable of further cellaring is immediately ready willing and able to enjoy today.
