Originally formulated by John Charles Brown OBE in 1954 and crafted to this very day in the exact same manner, Brown Brothers flagship icon endures as one of the nation's most distinguished single vineyard wines. Mondeuse plantings were brought to Australia in the early 1900s by the legendary Francois de Castella of St Hubert fame, they have remained the most precious parcel of Brown Brothers heirloom vines since the 1920s. At Milawa, Mondeuse translates into an inky, deeply tannic wine, it forms synergies with the sweet fruit plumpness of Shiraz and statuesque elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon to coalesce into a rich, opulent style of eloquence and structure... Planted to the tranquil Shangri-La of a sun warmed slope in Yarra Valley, TarraWarra was established 1983 by the founders of the Sussan and Sportsgirl brands. Philanthropists and patrons of the arts, Mr and Mrs Besen, AO and AO respectively, took a highly aesthetic approach to the pursuit of viticulture. Healthy soils and happy fauna were the means to an end, good wine comes from a sound ecology, but great wine needs the inspiration of a holistic engagement with the arts. It is here at Healesville that habitues can savour the Sauvignon while immersing themselves amongst the work of our national masters. A costly collection of canvas by our merry Messrs Boyd and Whiteley, Drysdale, Brack and Pugh,.. Take the trek to tarrawarra»

Argiano Non Confunditur IGT 2005 CONFIRM 2005 VINTAGE

Argiano Non Confunditur IGT 2005 - Buy
Cabernet Sauvignon Sangiovese Merlot Syrah Montalcino Italy
A reference to the Argiano label, Non Confunditur was the motto of the Lovatelli Gaetani d'Aragona family. Fashioned from the conspicuous regional cepage of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, Non Confunditur is fashioned to be ripe and forward drinking, generously flavoured and smoothly integrated, an excellent introduction to the super Tuscan icons of Montalcino.
Argiano established their Montalcino vineyards with a priority to determine the most favourable aspects and climes. Harvest normally begins around the end of September as the earlier ripening Syrah and Merlot are brought to the Argiano wineworks, followed in October by the later cropping Cabernet and Sangiovese. Each of four different varieties are separately vinified to preserve their individual characteristics. Upon completion of ferments, the wines are put to second use French oak barriques and traditional large Slovenian casks for several months maturation, softening the tannins and integrating the fruit, before the final assemblage of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and equal parts Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah.
Deep scarlet colour. Aromas of currant and spice, black fruits, chocolate and plum. The palate exhibits exciting power, generous fruit flavours with the inherent sweetness of Merlot acting as a bridge between the firm earthiness of Sangiovese, spicy blackcurrant of Cabernet and warm red fruit of Syrah. Full bodied with soft tannins and long lasting finish.
