Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Clare & Coonawarra South Australia
The Jim Barry vineyards have claimed countless prestigious international awards over the course of decades. Jim Barry, the man himself, had an uncanny eye for terroir and established some of the most precious sites in Valley Clare. The third generation of Barry winemakers have taken inspiration from their long and distinguished heritage to craft a contemporary expression of the traditional Aussie Cabernet Shiraz. Take the Bros out to dinner and match with the finest fare, they love good steak but are equally satisfied with eggplant lasagna, truffle and mushroom jus.
Bros Sam and Tom grew up amongst the vines of Valley Clare and ageing barrels of Shiraz Cabernet under the Jim Barry cellars. After a tour of study and travel, they came of age and returned to the family wineworks. It has been a rite of passage at Jim Barry that each new generation create a label of their own, one that reflects the times and contemporary tastes. They took a modern approach to the classic Australian blend of Cabernet and Shiraz, an approachable drink for red wine enthusiasts who don’t want to sniff and swish but prefer to share a good drop. A nod to the family heritage, the 1950s branding harks back to the era when grandparents Jim and Nancy established their first vineyards.
Dark in colour with a deep purple hue. A welcoming nose demonstrates vibrant notes of blackcurrant, violets, vanilla, raspberry and mint. Juicy plum and raspberry fruit are tightly woven with notes of espresso, dark cocoa, liquorice and cassis. The palate is built on chocolatey tannins, providing a well rounded, lingering finish.
