Thomas Craven was a purveyor of spirits and wine, he traded in gold, providing a lifeline to local prospectors. Johann Gottfried Scholz served in the Prussian army as a battlefield bonesetter, before joining the great emigration of Lutherans from Silesia to Barossa Valley.
