Gary and Nick Farr are father and son, they make wine together but aren't afraid to go head to head when their opinions differ. Nick grew up amongst some of the world's most sacred vineyards, he knows about the land and found a magnificent little site, barely east of Lake Colac. Irrewarra is the vigneron's shangri-la, prepared for viticulture by generations of grazing and eons of the sobering south sea breezes, which stimulate vines to yield meagre harvests of parched little grapes, sleek of tannin and rich in flavour. Vintaged in excruciatingly limited lots, there are fully two styles of Irrewarra on offer, a grapefruit and oyster shell.. It's irrewarra by farr»
Old Richmond Gaol was one of Diemen Land's first prisons, built by the convicts themselves, of good old fashioned granite blocks, laboriously hauled in wooden hand carts and quarried from the ominously monikered Butchers Hill. Today, Butchers Hill is the site of the steepest sloping vineyard in Coal River Valley, invigorated by afternoon sea breezes and prevailing winds from the roaring forties, its highly auspicious, self mulching black Vertosols, yield extraordinary wines. Established by founding members of the Hobart Beefsteak & Burgundy Club, Butchers Hill represents three generations of passion amongst the nether vineyards of the Apple Isle... Kalleske are one of our nation's most distinguished winegrower families, Barossa through and through, heirs to the tradition of Prussian pastoralists who established South Australia as one of the world's great viticultural precincts. The family Kalleske were the quiet achievers behind the stellar quality of fruit, at the heart of the most memorable vintages Penfolds Grange. Old sites and ancient vines, a tally of which have been branded under the Atze's Corner label, a regal range of stately Barossa wines, irresistibly underpriced in terms of provenance, excellence and sheer delight. Spectacular bouquets, redolent of freshness, fragrance and fruit,.. Small batches of the barossa's very best»
Coonawarra graziers have access to the finest soils for viticulture. Doug Balnaves was born in the very heart of Coonawarra, quite near the sacred cricket pitch at Penola. An accomplished herdsman and shearer, Balnaves took up the challenge of planting vineyards in 1971. Working under the tutelage of legendary Coonawarra winemaker Bill Redman, Balnaves immersed himself in the culture of the vine, ultimately establishing a grande marque of Coonawarra and securing the inaugural presidency of the Coonawarra Vignerons Association. He remains a lifelong member of the Penola Pipe Band. For those who like their wines structured yet satin, powerful yet.. The old sheep shearer's shanty»

Chardonnay Grechetto Umbria Italy
Castello della Sala is situated on a rocky bluff in the Umbrian Apennines, not far from the border with Tuscany. The castle, surrounded by ancient Etruscan towns, midway between Paglia River and the peak of Mt Nibbio, was built in 1350 for Angelo Monaldeschi della Vipera, whose family had accompanied Charlemagne on his visit to Rome in the 9th century. The estate now grows the finest parcels of Chardonnay and Grechetto in all Umbria, vinification techniques remain in the old world, the style of the finished wines however are timeless, opulent and profound.

Grapes are harvested off vines planted to rich marine fossil clays originating in the Pliocene era, at altitudes between two and four hundred metres. Chardonnay and Grechetto are separately destemmed, crushed and treated to a cold soak for several hours. Chardonnay is transferred to a selection of 225 litres Alliers and Troncais French oak barrels for two or three weeks of vinification. Batches remain in contact with sedimentery lees for six months while completing full malolactic. The Grechetto component is treated to inoculation in fermenters to retain varietal purity. The finished wine is assembled, bottled and laid to rest for a further ten months ageing under the historic wine cellars at Castello della Sala.
Bright golden straw hue. An intense fragrance, aromatic notes of citrus and pears, acacia flowers with hints of vanilla. A well structured palate exhibiting sweeter characters of hazelnuts and butter, persistent complexity and mineral notes. Cervaro drinks beautifully upon release and will continue to deliver complexity for many years to come.
