Zeppelin Amelie Eden Valley Shiraz 2009 CONFIRM 2009 VINTAGE

Zeppelin Amelie Eden Valley Shiraz 2009 - Buy
Shiraz Eden Valley South Australia
Kym Teusner is an enthusiastic winemaker. He was moved by the vine pullouts of old Barossa vineyards to take an interest in restoring destitute but precious sites which today produce some of the finest fruit. Amelie is sourced from a single, eighty years old Eden Valley property owned by the Sons of Eden, a great vineyard for yielding harvests of Shiraz displaying excellent colour, ripe tannins and generous flavour. Traditional vinification techniques and a hands off philosophy are employed to craft wines that are full of character and charm.
Zeppelin was created by Artisan of the Barossa winemakers Corey Ryan and Kym Teusner. Proud of the contribution which German settlers made to the young colony of South Australia, the brand was named in honour of Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, a brave and progressive German who thought really big. A very simplistic approach to winemaking however, means that the elegance of Eden Valley Shiraz is preserved in the final wine. Fruit is vinified in open fermenters, pumped over by hand and treated to a good old fashioned basket press. Following maturation in a selection of older oak barrels to soften the tannins while retaining vibrant fruit character, Amelie is bottled without any fining or filtration. Alcohol 14.0%
Deep dark purple red in colour. Amelie flaunts a nose of rich dark fruit, vanilla blossom and delicate spice notes enhanced by an equally rich, full bodied palate of dark red fruits. Concentrated cassis, and raspberry flavours are balanced by soft, elegant tannins and fine oak finish.
